Annabel Matthews-Smith


Annabel is a Sport and Exercise Science undergraduate student at the University of Portsmouth. She is working with the company as part of her placement year before completing her final university year. Annabel intends to focus on and develop injury and rehabilitation, physiology, biomechanics and physiotherapy, specialising in endurance runners. She has been undertaking Lactate, Breath by Breath gas analysis and SEMG testing.These were in the field of physiology and biomechanics which are subjects of great interest to her.

Annabel trains as a long-distance runner at Southend-on-Sea Athletics Club,  and has competed in League, County and National races, representing club and county in both Track and Field, Cross-Country and Road events. She was ranked 8th in the U.K. for U20 Women 10 mile Road Racing (2015-2016). Additionally she is a qualified Sports Massage Practitioner and has recently taken on private clients.

  • Athletics Track and Field Assistant Official
  • Sports Leaders UK Level 1 (QCF)
  • Qualified National Pool Lifeguard
  • Running Activator under the University’s Sport and Recreation Department
