Tom is currently with Sports Science Consultants for his placement year as part of his BSc Sport and Exercise Science degree at the University of Bath. Fields of research he is particularly interested in are exercise physiology, sports psychology, nutrition for performance and strength & conditioning. He has already gained a great deal of experience in physiological testing, such as computerised gas analysis using the Cortex 3B gas analyser, as well functional movement screening and strength and conditioning. He intends to continue developing this knowledge throughout his placement year and beyond.
At university Tom gained his athletics coaching assistant qualification and has been coaching at his local clubs in Bristol and Bath when at university for the past couple of years. He works with athletes from the ages of 5 up to seniors, helping them develop in their chosen disciplines. He is hoping to complete his full athletics coach qualification as well as running fitness coach qualifications in the next year to improve his coaching knowledge and give his athletes the best experience possible.
Tom has a huge passion for running and regularly competes for club, county and university predominately in the 400m and occasionally in the 100m and 200m. He has also recently taken up parkrun and goes almost every weekend.
